Some of the most talented and renowned actors from the film industry headed to New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi there. Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Ekta Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Bhumi Pednekar, Karan Johar, Vicky Kaushal, Ayushmann Khurrana, Rajkummar Rao and Rohit Shetty met with the PM of India to have various discussions about the film industry. Like Karan mentioned it on Instagram, the conversations were powerful and contributing to change. Ranveer Singh's 'Selfie of the Year' with Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, PM Narendra Modi and Others is India's Answer to Ellen DeGeneres' Oscar One.
Sharing a group photo on social media, KJo said, "Powerful and timely conversations can bring about change and this was one of what we hope will become a regular conversation. Meeting the Honorable Prime Minister @narendramodi today was an incredible opportunity. As a community, there is a huge interest to contribute to nation building. There is so much that we want to do. And can do and this dialogue was towards how and what ways we can do that. When the youngest country (in demography) joins hands with the largest movie industry in the world, we hope to be a force to reckon with. Together we would love to inspire and ignite positive changes to a transformative India. The film industry would also like to send a huge thanks for the GST reduction in movie ticket prices that was implemented recently! Thank you so much for your time, Sir!". The last time members of the film fraternity met with the PM, they drew a lot of flak on social media because it was just the men. Not a single woman from Bollywood was seen with the directors and that alone was a reason big enough for the netizens to be enraged. And rightly so! After how far we have come in terms of giving women equal opportunities in films, and trying to minimize the wage gap between actors and actresses, it was kinda obvious to expect this sort of response when a bunch of only men headed to meet Narendra Modi last time. Women have contributed to the entertainment industry in a huge way and it was truly unfair to keep them from such an important meet previously, especially knowing that the future is female!
And now that it finally happened, we couldn't be asking for more. Anyway, coming back to this latest meet, we are curious to know more details about this meeting and how did it go. Let's hope Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt or maybe Ranveer Singh give us more insights about it pretty soon.
