Alia Bhatt Bags Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kothewali after Inshallah Gets Shelved?
Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali will eventually find a way to work together. If recent reports are to believe, the duo is working on Gangubai Kothewali, a project that was earlier offered to Priyanka Chopra.
Seems like Sanjay Leela Bhansali is determined to work with Alia Bhatt. After the duo's collaboration was announced with Salman Khan in In-shaa-Allah and the movie got shelved for unknown reasons, the filmmaker has apparently decided to offer her a new project. As per a report in Mid-Day, Bhansali is keen on offering her Gangubai Kothewali, a project that was earlier offered to Priyanka Chopra. This also answers Alia's frequent visit to his office these days despite her movie getting suspended.
A source from the filmmaker's production team informed Mid-Day, "Bhansali had committed to working with Alia and is not one to go back on his word. Owing to his creative fallout with Salman Khan and In-shaa-Allah being subsequently shelved, Alia ended up getting the raw deal." Also, the actress' recent confession that she'll soon work with SLB in his project has further gotten us excited about this story and we can hope for it to be true. Sanjay Leela Bhansali to Announce a Movie With Shah Rukh Khan As Salman Khan-Alia Bhatt's Inshallah Gets Shelved?
You can check her confession below
Gangubai Kothewali will revolve around a brothel owner of Kamathipura. The film will be an adaptation of a chapter from S Husain Zaidi's Mafia Queens Of Mumbai. As we mentioned before, Priyanka Chopra was earlier in talks to star in this SLB directorial but she has her palette full currently. The Quantico star is working on her project with Mindy Kaling and later has The White Tiger adaptation with Rajkummar Rao. Guess PeeCee's loss is Alia's gain in this case.
