Confirmed! Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali to Collaborate for Gangubai Kathiawadi, Movie to Release on September 11, 2020

Here comes a piece of news we all were waiting for! Alia Bhatt's long-awaited dream to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali will be finally fulfilled as the duo is set to collaborate for Gangubai Kathiawadi. Popular trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter account to reveal this big news along with the film's release date. We wonder if Gangubali Kathiawadi is the same project with a different name that was associated with Bhansali. The ace filmmaker had earlier approached Priyanka Chopra for a film called Gangubali but talks of which never materialised. He had even confirmed working on its script and offering it to PeeCe. “I love the story, it’s been with me for long and I’m keen to make the film. Priyanka and I are in talks," he had said in one of his interactions. But when the Quantico star didn't show any interest in his venture, he offered it to Alia, who was quite elated and excited with his offer.

Alia and Sanjay were earlier expected to come together with Salman Khan for Inshallah. The movie was planned as the actor Eid 2020 release but got shelved due to unknown or should we say multiple reasons. In any case, Alia still managed to grab his next directorial and guess, things are pretty sorted between them now. The movie will revolve around a brothel owner of Kamathipura and will be an adaptation of a chapter from S Husain Zaidi's Mafia Queens Of Mumbai.
