Dil Chahta Hai- Akshaye has stood out like sunshine in this slice-of-life movie. With Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan co-starring, his role as Sid took the film on a different level altogether. He aced the character of a matured lover and a passionate artist with such ease that this easily becomes one of his career-best performances.
Taal- The film showcased him as a rich guy, a charmer who falls in love with a naive girl. He brilliantly kept the balance between playing a true lover and a slightly egoistic person who realizes his mistake later on. His expressions in the AR Rahman created songs are still loved by his fans.
Race- The chocolate boy suddenly turned into the devil in this amazing Abbas-Mustan thriller. He played a role of a selfish younger brother of Saif Ali Khan and a money-minded player. Despite the gray role that he played, audience secretly rooted for him, thanks to his devilish charm!
Ittefaq- Yet another thriller, where in he played a smart cop. One simply cannot not like his suspicious and handsome character, as he tries to investigate about the real murder.
The Accidental Prime Minister- He was seen as writer Sanjaya Baru in this film based on the same book. He rubbed shoulders with experienced artists like Anupam Kher and still managed to capture the attention of his fans with his calm demeanor and killer expressions.
