Akshay Kumar- Radhika Apte- Sonam Kapoor starrer PadMan is all set to release on February 9. After a strong promotional strategy of PadMan Challenge, the film has managed to create a lot of buzz around the film which revolves around the subject of menstrual hygiene. The topic of menstrual hygiene commonly called as 'periods' has been widely considered as taboo in the society and this is what the R Balki movie wishes to eradicate. Even though 50 countries happily welcomed the movie, Pakistan is not keen to screen it, thanks to the 'bold' topic of the social drama. An exhibitor, in fact, refused to give NOC (Non-objection certificate) to the cinema.

As per the reports in Pinkvilla.com, a source revealed, "Padman was initially bought by Amjad Rashid of IMGC but after he was shown the trailer, he was adviced not to import the film. Later HKC bought it and applied for NOC which was denied." The report also quotes a senior female executive from Pakistan saying, "Well, you know how the mentality is in our Asian men towards periods and they don’t want to discuss this as it’s a taboo. Sadly."

However, the makers are reportedly not affected by this development. A trade expert opined that the business of the film will not get much affected as Pakistan is a small territory any which way. Meanwhile, some of the places where the social drama will be released are Iraq, Ivory Coast, Russia etc.

PadMan is based on a chapter of Twinkle Khanna's book The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad that is dedicated to  the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social activist from Tamil Nadu. Do let us know your thought on PadMan's fate in the neighboring country in the comments section below.
