"It's high time a girl learns self-defence", said almost everyone when the social media was engulfed with numerous #MeToo stories. There were various suggestions put forth by many people but how much of it has actually materialised? Well, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has taken a step towards the cause to contribute his bit towards educating girls about it. He and his team set up a self-defence camp in Thane, Maharashtra where over 2000 girls from nearby schools participated. The action-star shared an amazing video where he is seen interacting with a school girl at the camp in the local language (Marathi). He was seen teaching her some simple tactics to defend herself and the girl picked up his lessons swiftly!
Khiladi Kumar tweeted, “Happy to see a turnout of 2000 plus girls from nearby schools at our self defense training camp in Thane today. The workshop was to teach them some basic self defense techniques.Hoping it was helpful and to see more of them at our training centre. @AUThackeray.”

For the uninitiated, Akki launched Women’s Self Defense Centre (WSDC) along with Yuva Sena president, Aditya Thackeray. The girls and women here are taught to use tactics like fighting, kicking and punching. They are also taught to make use of elbows, knees, head butts, close quarters combat, guns, knives and sticks in their defence.
On the other hand, the superstar has been appealing to the fans to contribute to the families of Pulwama attack martyrs, just like he did. He also posted a cautionary tweet, making people aware of the fake donation sites that have been created on the internet. Coming back to the video above, the star deserves a huge applaud.
