Earlier, in an interview talking about their latest movie clash, John had said, "Honestly, if there was a controversy, I would have loved to create it but Akshay and me are really good friends. We really get along. In fact, parso hi humne ek doosre ko message kiya. There is absolutely nothing. Hum sirf do films release kar rahe hai ek din mein," Also, talking about the clash Akshay has said that there is no element of surprise there given the number of movies that release every year.
Akshay's Mission Mangal narrates the incredible story of India's first interplanetary mission - Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM). Directed by Jagan Shakti, the movie also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Vidya Balan, Taapse Pannu, Kriti Kulhari, Nithya Menen and Sharman Joshi. John's Batla House, on the other hand, is all based on the real story of the controversial encounter of Indian Mujahideen terrorists eleven years ago in Delhi.
