Ajay Devgn's Tanjhaji: The Unsung Warrior has been declafred tax-free in the state of Uttar Pradesh as per a report by ANI. Now, Haryana government has followed the lead and declared the movie tax-free in the state.
Ajay Devgn and Kajol starrer Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is doing a good business at the box office. The movie has earned over Rs 90.96 crore by the end of day 5 of its run. The movie has recieved a lukewarm response from the critics. But the movie is being supported by the government. BJP members distributed free-tickets to the movie in Bhopal, MP. The movie has been declafred tax-free in the state of Uttar Pradesh as per a report by ANI. Now, Haryana government has followed the lead and declared the movie tax-free in the state.
Former Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has demanded that Tanhaji be exempted from entertainment tax. He has written a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to this effect. “The need of the hour is to ensure that bravery and valour of Tanaji Malusare, a trusted aide of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, reaches the new generation. The story of how Tanaji risked his life to capture the Kondana fort and laid down his life should reach the maximum number of people. Hence the film be made tax free,” he stated.
Later, Maharashtra Minister Balasaheb Thorat revealed on Twitter, "In today's cabinet meeting, everyone has agreed to make 'Tanhaji' film tax-free in the state. Making the movie tax-free won't only be good publicity but might also increase the earnings for Tanhaji. The movie's competitor, Deepika Padukone starrer Chhapaak, has also been declared tax-free in many states. The movie was declared tax-free in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Tanhaji has been directed by Om Raut. The movie also stars Sharad Kelkar, Kajol, Saif Ali Khan and Neha Sharma in key roles.
