Ajay Devgn to Play the Late Phoolan Devi's Assassin in a Biopic?
Ajay Devgn might also come on board as the producer.
Ajay Devgn, who was last seen in the successful Raid earlier this year, has quite a few interesting movies in hand. However, the actor is hungry for more exciting projects and he seems to his eyes on a new biopic. As per a report in Mid-Day, Ajay Devgn is keen to work on the biopic of Sher Singh Rana, who was convicted of assassinating the former dacoit-turned-politician, Phoolan Devi in 2001. Rana was convicted by the Delhi court for the murder in 2014. He is currently on bail.
So why does Ajay Devgn want to make a movie on this controversial person and play the lead in it? A source close to the development told the publication, "What caught Ajay's attention is the interesting life of Rana, who escaped from Tihar jail in 2004, and claimed to have gone to Afghanistan to bring back the remains of the 12th-century Indian ruler, Prithviraj Chauhan, before he was caught in Kolkata in 2006. He also penned a book on his journey, Jail Diary: Tihar Se Kabul-Kandahar Tak. Ajay is likely to start prepping for the film by next year."
Ajay Devgn might also come on board as the producer. There is no official confirmation on this, which include who will be directing the movie.
Devgn currently has quite a handful of projects, from the comedy entertainer, Total Dhamaal, to the yet untitled romcom, also starring Tabu. He will also be seen in the historical biopic, Tanaji, where he plays the Maratha general Tanaji Malusare. There is also a two-hero project with Ranbir Kapoor, that will be directed by Luv Ranjan.
