Keerthy Suresh's Bollywood debut with Ajay Devgn finally gets a release date and it will hit the screens on November 27, 2020. This is more or less a year away and this long wait is already killing us. Produced by Boney Kapoor, the film revolves around a football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, who is credited for India's gold medal win at Jakarta Asian Games in 1963. Ajay plays the coach in this sports drama based on a true story. Maidaan First Look: Ajay Devgn's Film on Football Coach Syed Abdul Rahim Goes on Floors.
The makers recently wrapped the film's Mumbai schedule and the next was about to begin on November 3 in Kolkata. A massive set for the shoot was built in Mumbai for a scene inside the Mukesh Mill compound. The makers have also got a VFX team and a sports choreographer from Los Angeles to ensure that the football sequences are of the highest quality and there's no compromise on that aspect. Talking about his production, Boney Kapoor in one of his earlier interactions had said, "I was amazed that not many are aware of someone as significant as Syed Abdul Rahim. He's an unsung hero whose achievements must be saluted. His team had heroes like Chunni Goswami, PK Banerjee, Balaram, Franco and Arun Ghosh. It takes someone like Ajay Devgn to play Syed Abdul Rahim. With him on board, I can just hope that our film inspires youngsters to play football, and India soon to bring the World Cup home." This would also mark Ajay's first sports drama as the actor had none from this genre in his kitty before.
