After Alia Bhatt in SS Rajamouli’s RRR, 5 More Bollywood Actresses We Want to See Work in South Movies

In the biggest casting coup of the week, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn are confirmed to be a part of SS Rajamouli's ambitious period film, RRR. The movie has Ram Charan and Jr NTR in the lead, and both are playing freedom fighters in the '20s. Not just Alia Bhatt, the movie will also feature a second female lead in the British actress Daisy Edgar Jones. But the casting of Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn is what is making social media buzz, as both are making their first forays into South cinema. SS Rajamouli's Big-Budget Film RRR Starring Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn to Release on July 30, 2020.

We are quite sure that it is Alia's mentor Karan Johar who must have pushed her to do a movie with SS Rajamouli, considering that it was KJo who presented the Hindi versions of Baahubali films. Also, the role might be something amazing considering Alia is at the peak of her career in Bollywood with some plum projects in hand like Brahmastra, Kalank and Takht.

Not just Alia, even Shraddha Kapoor is making her debut in Telugu movie soon with Prabhas' Saaho. In the past, Bollywood actresses like Aishwarya Rai, Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Kangana Ranaut, Tabu, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Sonakshi Sinha, Sunny Leone and many more have worked in South movies. And yet, there are a few actresses in Bollywood yet to make their debut in South cinema. Kareena Kapoor Khan

The Begum of Pataudi has restricted her charming act to just Bollywood, even though she has got many offers from South. In a media interaction in 2017, Kareena disclosed the reason for her aversion to working in South films. She had said, "There is so much great work being done in Telugu or Malayalam films. I don't understand the language and so I feel the connection will not be there. That's the only problem." However, Kareena did act in Tamil legend Mani Ratnam's Hindi film, Yuva.

Anushka Sharma

Anushka Sharma is one of the top actresses right now. While her hubby, Virat Kohli, is a cricketer loved in all parts of the country, Anushka has never ventured beyond Bollywood and done a regional movie. Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor has starred opposite Tamil superstar Dhanush in his Bollywood debut Raanjhanaa. But the actress herself has not any South movie till now. Which is interesting since her father, the eternally young Anil Kapoor, had begun his acting career in Kannada cinema.

Madhuri Dixit Nene

It is intriguing to know that Madhuri Dixit Nene who had ruled over Bollywood cinema from the '80s, has never done a South movie yet. She had recently made her acting debut in Marathi cinema with Bucket List, though.

Parineeti Chopra

Parineeti Chopra was in the running to play one of the leads for RRR and she had even told the media to wait for the official announcement from the makers. However, Parineeti's name was not announced though. Well, there is always a next time!
