Some time back, we had reported about how the much-anticipated sci-fi thriller, 2.0, arguably India's costliest film, is delayed further and it will now release in 2019. Earlier it was speculated that the movie, starring Rajinikanth in the lead and Akshay Kumar playing the antagonist, was supposed to come out on August 15 this year. However, the special effects are taking too much time to be done, and the makers are not compromising on making the movie a visual spectacle, so the postponement.

With 2.0 being pushed ahead, it left Akshay Kumar's other movie, Gold, to take the vacant slot. We all know how Akshay Kumar has a thing for national holidays, and he wouldn't want to leave the Independence Day slot vacant. But as per a report in Bollywood Hungama, there is also a chance that even Gold might also not release during that period. Mouni Roy plays the female lead in the movie.

A source close to the project revealed to the website, "Earlier there were rumours that the release of Gold would be pushed from August 15 since the Rajinikanth – Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 was to release on the same day. However, with 2.0 being delayed, the release date of Gold remained unchanged. But now, the makers of the film are seriously contemplating delaying the release of Gold. Apparently there is still some work left to be done in terms of shoot. Besides this there are also claims that the Akshay was unhappy with certain portions of the film and hence it has gone into reshoot. This has now resulted in an additional 10-15 days of shooting time which will obviously affect the film’s release schedule."

But another source revealed that there is no such delay in the production and the shooting has gone without any hiccups. That source revealed, "Team Gold are all geared up to release their film during the Independence Day weekend. The shooting of the film has been wrapped smoothly as per schedule. In fact, the post-production of the film is on in full swing, the makers are all set to present something exciting this week."

So will Gold make it to August 15 this year? Watch this space to get more updates on this!
