Popular ad filmmaker and theatre personality Alyque Padamsee passed away in Mumbai on Saturday morning (November 17, 2018). As soon as the news of demise broke (today morning), Twitter got flooded with condolence messages. While many Bollywood celebs tweeted condolence messages, our Prime Minister Narendra Modi too took to the micro-blogging site to extend his condolences. Besides political leaders and Bollywood celebs, Alyque Padamsee’s close friends and colleagues too have been reacting to his death on Twitter. He wrote on Twitter, "Saddened by the demise of Shri Alyque Padamsee. A wonderful communicator, his extensive work in world of advertising will always be remembered. His contribution to theatre was also noteworthy. My thoughts are with his family and friends in this sad hour: PM @narendramodi"
Indian President, Ram Nath Kovind too tweeted, which read, "Sorry to hear of the passing of Alyque Padamsee, creative guru, theatre personality and doyen of our ad industry. My condolences to his family, friends and colleagues #PresidentKovind"

For the uninitiated, the 90-year-old Padamsee was the brains behind several iconic Indian advertising campaigns including, Liril girl, 'Humara Bajaj', 'Lalita ji' for Surf. Alyque Padamsee is best also popularly known for essaying the role of Mohammad Ali Jinnah in Richard Attenborough’s Oscar-winning film 'Gandhi'.
