Popular character actor Dinyar Contractor passed away due to old age-related health issues, as per reports. He was 79. The film fraternity and the world has suffered an irreparable loss. Amongst the fans who paid their condolences to the departed soul were Prime Minister Narendra Modi and, also, Smriti Irani. PM Modi said, as per ANI, "Padma Shri Dinyar Contractor was special because he spread lots of happiness. His versatile acting brought smiles on several faces. Be it theatre, television or films, he excelled across all mediums. Saddened by his demise. My thoughts are with his family and admirers,"

Dinyar was awarded Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour in India, in January 2019. Some of his popular Bollywood appearances include 36 China Town, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, Khiladi. His last TV appearance was in the comedy show, Bh Se Bhade.
