On Friday, October 4, videos of trees being cut down at Mumbai's Aarey forest made their way to social media. Despite the protests, Bombay High Court quashed all petitions filed against BMC's move to cut down trees for the Metro car shed. Lats night, BMC began cutting down trees at the Aarey site leaving citizens enraged. Protestors swiftly made their way to Aarey colony in the middle of the night and now celebrities too are taking to social media to share their views on the same. Mona Ambegaokar:
Thousands of #Mumbaikars can still travel in Metro if the Metro Car Shed is built on barren land in Kanjurmarg or other 6 locations available for it. Why destroy an entire forest for it? #AareyForest + Metro 3 would reduce carbon emissions even more. @Dev_Fadnavis shame on you. https://t.co/Dnz3iEHYtd
