Aamir Khan's next is titled Laal Singh Chaddha which is the official remake of Tom Hanks' much loved movie Forrest Gump. Well, that movie has been changing hands since the 90s. Yes you read right! This remake was supposed to be made with Anil Kapoor in the lead and Kundan Shah on the director's chair. As per reports, Shah had watched Kapoor in Eeshwar and thought he would be apt for the role. But it didn't work out and Shah announced the film with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. Aamir Khan’s Diet For Laal Singh Chaddha, The Hindi Remake Of Forrest Gump Revealed!

As per an interview to Rediff, Shah explained what went wrong with the adaptation with Kapoor. "Anil Kapoor realises the dedication required to make such a film. See, the stars are a indicator of a film. They are important in the sense that they take the cream of the money and the credit. And this won't change unless the director doesn't become the star of a film." Well, that's a grouse the industry still has.

Anyway, now the question arises, why didn't it work out with Shah Rukh Khan either. Reports suggest that by the time SRK was signed, he had become a superstar thanks to Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and the film went on a back-burner. Interestingly, many found resemblances of Hank's character in SRK in My Name Is Khan.

The only difference between the ones announced earlier and the one that has Aamir in it is that the latter is an official remake. Atul Kulkarni is the writer of the film and he has taken permission from the makers of the Hollywood film for this adaptation. Laal Singh Chaddha is already on the floors and will release on Christmas 2020.
