Ever since the trailer of Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Thackrey is released, there has been much buzz about the film. Thackeray is based on the life of Shiv Sena founder and Supremo late Bal Thackeray. The hoopla got the negative press when a local Shiv Sena leader said that no other movie would be allowed to be released on the same day as it will clash with Thackrey.

All set to release on January 25, Thackrey was to clash with Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika, Hrithik Roshan's Super 30 (The Date Of Which Is Postponed already) and Emraan Hashmi starrer Cheat India. When asked about this clash other producers want to avoid, Bollywood's Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan explained with this comment of his. "Every producer wants to release his or her film on a special date. At the same time, they make sure that their films don't clash with any other big film. I believe that there is no bigger star in Maharashtra than Balasaheb. So, there should be no surprise if the release dates of other movies have been shifted."

"Everybody wants to watch his film in Maharashtra so it's obvious that no producer would want his or her film to clash with his (Bal Thackeray) film," Aamir maintained. Aamir Khan’s New Year 2019 Resolution Is to Learn from His Mistakes in 2018 and Make His Best Film Yet

There's a demand from the political force for producers and directors to change the release dates of their production in order to fetch Thackeray a clear release. It has now emerged that Emraan Hashmi-starrer Cheat India, which was earlier scheduled to release on the same day as Thackeray, will now reportedlyscreen in theatres on January 18.

Interestingly, Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika is, as things stand now, will release on January 25. Sources close to the film have also maintained that there is no decision about shifting the release date as of now.
