The recently held 66th National Film Awards 2019 saw a plethora of stars in attendance. This one event is celebrated with a colossal amount of respect and dignity with less of show-sha of the celebs. Touted to be one of the most prestigious award shows, the honour received here is considered as a benchmark on one’s CV. Like every year, this year too had some landmark movies in the list with few new faces on the stage to receive the trophy. The picture of Akshay Kumar, Ayushmann Khurrana, Vicky Kaushal, Keerthy Suresh, Sanjay Leela Bhansali sitting in the same row in this event held in Delhi had the netizens starstruck.
Here at Vigyan Bhavan, Vicky Kaushal and Ayushmann Khuranna shared the Best Actor accolade for their performances in Uri: The Surgical Strike and Andhadhun, respectively. Keerthy Suresh won the Best Actress award for her role in Telugu movie Mahanati. Sanjay Leela Bhansali won the award for best music director. It was a proud moment for Surekha Sikri as she got a standing ovation for being honoured with Best Supporting Actress award for Badhaai Ho. Akshay Kumar was here to take away the trophy of the National Award for Best Film on Social Issues for Padman. The fans were however sad to find that the Shahenshah of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan could not attend the ceremony. He was to be honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award here. However, he tweeted and informed his fans that he would not be able to attend the show as he was down with fever and was advised against travelling.
