Nargis Fakhri and Rajkummar Rao's 5 Weddings trailer is out and it reminds us of Salman Khan's Marigold quite a lot. Nargis plays an Indian-American journalist, who is from Orange County. Rajjkumar plays the role of a cop in the movie whose duty is to just be around Nargis as she comes to India to write about Indian weddings. The trailer has Nargis being reluctant about coming to India and writing about weddings because she despises both. But she agrees to doing it anyway because professional opportunities and promotions. The trailer does have a couple of cliches about people who visit India for the first time.

But keeping all that aside, it does have a few good moments in the 5 Weddings trailer. There is a scene where Nargis encounters a couple of transgenders and she is intrigued by them. She also meets them and bonds with them, decides to do a story on how transgenders coming to weddings are considered auspicious in our country. And not just that, it also shows Rajkummar's reluctance in getting the story published. He even tries to steal her laptop to stop her from publishing the particular story. Of course, by then she falls for him and things get complicated.

The film also has Academy Award nominee Candy Clark, Golden Globe nominee Bo Derek and Dutch-American actor Anneliese Van der Pol in it. The film was screened at Cannes Film Festival, too. Namrata Singh Gujral told Indian Express, "It will be the first time audiences will be able to watch the film. It is immensely exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time. Americans are loving the film – so, I hope the French like it, too." This is the international trailer and the India trailer will be released soon. The film is slated to release on 21st September 2018.
