For a die-hard romantic like me, not believing in fairy tales is something unusual. So considering I have grown up on a diet of Bollywood movies, most of them being extra loaded with cheesy, I am... err WAS a sucker for romance and all things mushy! So it goes without saying that Yash Chopra movies were my all-time favourites (read confession at the end of the article).
Eventually, I grew up and realised that my Raj probably missed the train and I guess will never get to me! I guess I will have to be my own Raj then? That's not the only misconception that has been cleared off my head ever since I grew up. Yes, there is an entire list but for now I am just gonna stick to four. So, here are a couple of instances from some of Yash Chopra's popular movies, thanks to which I built castles in the air. And now, the castles have basically come crumbling down. The Ideal Guy Exists!
Veer from Veer Zara, Rahul from Dil Toh Paagal Hai or Samar in Jab Tak Hai Jaan, there was this one guy in Yash Raj movies who is just as cheesy as you are. He enjoys dancing in the rains with you and is out there in some corner of the world, waiting for you to be his. Well, I didn't happen to find someone like that AS OF YET. But of course, I am not losing hope. Maybe the ideal guy does exist, in a parallel universe maybe!
True Love Will Always Find Its Way Back to You
Veer and Zara won't end up being together every time no matter how much they love each other! Sometimes, some stories are just not meant to be and I bet all you millennials will agree with me on that.
Romancing on Icy- Cold Mountains
Sridevi and Rishi Kapoor romancing on icy- cold mountains in Chandni raised the expectations only higher. But I got my reality check when I grew up and realised that's definitely not possible in the real world. Even if I am willing to do something as crazy as this, I doubt my partner would want to romance me on icy-cold mountains without freezing to death!
It's Always a Happy Ending
Say if I were Simran, I'd never get to hear those three golden words, "Jaa Simran Jaa" from my father ever. Now you might say that Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was written and directed by Aditya Chopra but it does come under the banner of YRF. So technically, it does count as a Yash Chopra movie! (PS: Let me admit, Switzerland is my favourite travel destination, DDLJ is my all-time favourite film!)
