Today marks 25 years of Darr... the iconic psychological thriller from Yash Raj Films. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla and Sunny Deol in central roles, the movie marked SRK's foray into negative space and what can we say, we are still obsessed with Rahul and how he says "K..K..K...Kiran". The film's plot revolved around Rahul (SRK), who is obsessively in love with his classmate Kiran and stalks her till her doorstep. And what follows is a cycle of distress, heartbreak and fights, which lead to Rahul's death.

And while we all know how the story of Darr ended, here are some facts that were lesser known to you guys, with regards to the movie.

Shah Rukh Khan took up Rahul's role because nobody else was willing to do it, not because he wanted to experiment.

Aditya Chopra was quoted in filmmaker Samar Khan’s book on Shah Rukh Khanas saying, “When we cast him for Darr, to be honest, neither dad nor I really liked him. He was working on Rakesh Roshan’s King Uncle then and we had managed to get our hands on the reel of some footage. Neither of us was very impressed but somehow, maybe because everyone kept rejecting the negative part, we ended up signing him.”

Perfectionist Aamir Khan was the first choice to play the psychotic Rahul in the film. However, actor Uday Chopra revealed that Aamir was not willing to take up negative roles and turned it down. However, Aamir, later on in an interview with Rajeev Masand and Anupama Chopra, revealed that he was asked to walk out of the project as he was too curious and asking too many questions.  Also, actors like Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn were also approached for the role.

SRK's character Rahul's popularity irked Sunny Deol as his character Sunil was completely overshadowed. Sunny in an interview with InUth, revealed that he was not told that SRK's role was meatier and even alleged Yash Chopra of hiding the fact deliberately from him, so much so that he even refused YRF's offer to launch his son Karan Deol, because of his distrust in the production house.

It was Rishi Kapoor who recommended SRK to Yash Chopra for the role. In his book Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored, the veteran revealed that after having worked previously with SRK in Deewana, he felt like the latter was apt for the negative character.

Well, we bet you guys did not really know much about the above facts. Well, if you die-hard SRK fans have any trivia to share, please do so in the comments section below.
