Before I began the piece, I have to start off with a disclaimer - the figures that I am talking about below about 2.0 are only for its Hindi dubbed version. The cumulative figures of 2.0 for all languages are all mostly estimates and it is hard to fix onto one right amount because of a lack of a proper tracking system. That said, the figures we have received for the Hindi dubbed version of the Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar starrer has a lot to say about how the film has been received on its opening day. 2.0 Box Office Collection Day 1: Rajinikanth- Akshay Kumar Starrer Takes off to a Flying Start, Hindi Version Earns Rs 20.25 Crore

As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the Hindi version of 2.0 has collected Rs 20.25 crore on its opening day. Which is quite a good figure considering that the movie came out on a Thursday which also happens to be a non-holiday. In the northern territories, 2.0 is riding big on the star power of Akshay Kumar, who is making his Tamil debut in the film and is the primary antagonist. The figures could have gone much higher had they opened the advance booking much before. 2.0 Box Office Collection: Area-Wise Breakdown of How Much Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar's Film Earned On Its Opening Day!

However, while 2.0's Hindi version has gone off to a flying start, it is nowhere near the opening day figures of Aamir Khan's Thugs of Hindostan or Prabhas' Baahubali 2. Thugs of Hindostan had collected Rs 52.25 crore on its opening day, benefitting from the Diwali release and Aamir Khan's star-backing. It's another matter that the movie took a big stumble after that and ended in losses for its distributors, ending its domestic run below the Rs 150 crore mark. 2.0: Akshay Kumar All Set To Beat Aamir Khan in Having Highest Opening Day Collections; Here're His 5 Previous Biggest Opening Day Earners!

While Thugs of Hindostan is a pure Hindi film and therefore has that advantage, the same cannot be said for Baahubali 2's Hindi version. Despite lacking stars popular among the Hindi audiences (then), Baahubali 2 collected Rs 41 crore on day one.

Interestingly, Akshay Kumar could not even beat the opening day collections of his own movies. As of now, it is this year's Gold that has the highest opening day collections with Rs 25.25 crore, while 2015's Singh is Bliing is slightly ahead with Rs 20.67 crore. And on a separate note, even Tiger Shroff's Baaghi 2 fared better than  2.0's Hindi version with Rs 25.10 crore.

Considering that the movie is made on a budget of about Rs 600 crore, 2.0 definitely has to do much much better in the days ahead to earn profits. 2.0 has opened to a far better response in South, with estimated collections of Rs 60 crore for all languages.
