You will love Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor's chemistry in 102 Not out.

Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor coming back together after nearly two decades is not the only reason you should be excited about while watching 102 Not Out. The duo and the makers give you more than that one reason to enjoy the film. You know how our parents keep saying, "Things were different in our times" and "Relationships were valued in our times" and all of that? Well, most of us have stopped reacting to it since we are used to hearing it every time we make a mistake. But this film actually shows you how relationships have changed over the decade. The best thing about watching the film was that I went with my mother. It couldn't get better than this. It is pretty evident from the trailer how Amitabh Bachchan, the father who is full of life, makes his son (Rishi Kapoor) do things that he wouldn't do otherwise. Big B turns his son's so-called perfect life upside down with his shenanigans.

Now I could totally relate with these two since it is the kind of bond I share with my mother. Well, except I am the Big B in her life and she is my Rishi Kapoor. It was a beautiful and an emotional experience watching this movie with her because we would always be there for each other just like those two oldies onscreen, no matter how many tantrums we throw at each other. 102 Not Out was the perfect film for Kapoor and Bachchan's reunion.

The two of them compliment each other so much and it's not the dialogues in the film that might make you cry (unless you are made of stone or something) but it is the scenes that follow these dialogues that will make you reach for the tissues. No, it is not a sob fest. In fact, it is really entertaining, it has a bit of a suspense and will tickle your funny bones. The opening plate of the film has an illustrated version of all the important places in Mumbai, like the Gateway of India, The Asiatic Library and so on, it looks beautiful. Big B steals the show right from the start of the film. Since this is going to be a spoiler free review (I'm not one of those monsters who give out spoilers!), I will not get into details of scenes that are not from the trailer. The first half of the film is a laughter riot and you will basically have a lot of questions around Big B's character, Dhattatreya Vakharia. Why has he suddenly decided to send his son, Babulal, to an old age home? What does his dream of breaking a record got to do with Kapoor spending the rest of his days in an old age home? And why is he doing that to his son?

But all of these questions are answered in the second half and so beautifully. Umesh Shukla has, indeed, done a wonderful job at direction. Dhattatreya and Babulal's banter will crack you up but more than that, it's Jimit Trivedi's comic timing that works wonders for the film. Shukla has not wasted any time in dragging a certain scene or doing too much of explaining. You are not bored even for a second. And the best thing is that there are not too many songs in the film that will get you all restless for the movie to end. Though there will be moments where Big B constantly keeping everything a mystery will make you a tad bit restless.

The climax of the film is satisfying and emotional. It's a movie that you must definitely watch with your entire family. It's an unusual story of a father-son duo that you are going to enjoy from the beginning to the end.

Yay!

- The comic timing of all the three actors (Big B, Kapoor and Jimit) is brilliant

- Background score is beautiful

- It is a laugh riot but has it's emotional moments where you'll want to go hug your parents

- It's an unuusual, untold story and Big B-Chintuji's equation does justice to it

- Overall performances

Nay!

- There is too much mystery behind everything that Big B's character does and it will make you a little restless

- Big B loses his Gujarati accent in a couple of scenes, there is a little inconsistency

Final Thoughts

Big B and Kapoor will give you a lot of reasons to enjoy this film. Such effortlessly brilliant acting and direction! You will have moments that make you smile, laugh and at one point, I assure you, you will find yourself holding your parents' hand while watching the film. You must definitely watch 102 Not Out with your family.
