This Friday, the major competitors at the Indian box office have been the desi spy thriller Aiyaary and Hollywood heavyweight Black Panther. And as the trend has been in the last couple of years, it was been the Marvel movie that has got an upper hand over the Bollywood film at the box office. Black Panther has got raving reviews from the critics and even the audiences are loving the movie, despite not starring any of the popular Marvel heroes like Iron Man, Spider-Man and Captain America.
Popular trade analyst in Bollywood, Taran Adarsh had tweeted the latest figures of Black Panther that showed the movie going from strength to strength over the weekend. It has earned Rs 24.81 cr in gross collections, with Rs 19.35 crore as its net collections. It has also done really well on Sunday, earning the highest in the three days that it released in India. In North America, Black Panther has the fifth highest opening weekend of all time, collecting $192 million from ticket sales (Justice League didn't even break the $100 million barrier in the opening day weekend). Globally, it earned $361 million, though the movie is yet to release in Russia and China.
Here's Taran's tweet on the Black Panther box office collections,
#BlackPanther emerged the first choice of moviegoers... Fared well in its opening weekend... Thu previews + Fri 5.60 cr, Sat 6.65 cr, Sun 7.10 cr. Total: ₹ 19.35 cr Nett BOC… Gross BOC: ₹ 24.81 cr. India biz... Note: Hindi + English.

On the other hand Aiyaary is underperforming both in terms of reviews as well as the the box office. This Neeraj Pandey movie, starring Manoj Bajpayee, Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet in the lead, has opened to underwhelming box office collections since its opening day.
Talking more about Black Panther, it is directed by Ryan Coogler and stars Chadwick Boseman in the lead as T'Challa, the king of Wakanda, who also goes by the superhero moniker Black Panther. Michael B Jordan and Andy Serkis play the antagonists, while Lupita Nyong'o, Angela Bassett, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya and Forest Whitaker form the supporting cast. It will directly lead into what is touted as the biggest movie of the year, Avengers: Infinity War.
