In 1954, Shyam Ramsey, who recently passed away co-produced this movie on Bhagat Singh, starring Prem Abeed, Jairaj, Smriti Biswas and Ashita Mazumdar. Rafi sang the song, Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna Ab Hamaare Dil Mein Hai, for the movie, which still remains one of the most popular patriotic numbers.

2002 was the year, when not or two but three movies in Bhagat Singh were released. We often only remember the ones starring Ajay Devgn and Bobby Deol, and forget the one with Sonu Sood.

23rd March 1931: Shaheed
A brilliant movie that released in 2002. One of the rare works by Bobby Deol that is commendable. The movie directed by Guddu Dhanoa also starred Sunny Deol, playing the role of Chandrashekhar Azad. The movie won Zee Cine Technical Award for Best Art Direction.

The Legend of Bhagat Singh
Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, this one starred Ajay Devgn has in the lead role. The movie was a box office dud in 2002. But it did win Best Film at National Film Award. Ajay was also National Film Award for Best Actor.

Shaheed
The Ajay Devgn starrer is not the only film on Bhagat Singh to have won a National Film Award. In 1965, Manoj starred as the lead in Shaheed. The movie won Best Hindi Film Award at the 13th ceremony of National Film Awards.
