With the death of violinist Balabhaskar, India loses a shining musical gem on Tuesday. The 40-year-old renowned musician and his family had met with a car accident on September 25, and a week later Balabhaskar succumbed to his injuries on October 2. Fans are finding it hard to digest the sad death news. They remember Balabhaskar’s terrific stage performances who had shot to fame when, as a 17-year-old, he composed music for a Malayalam film Mangalya Pallak. The violinist had already lost his two-year-old daughter, Thejaswini Bala in the same accident. The cruel irony is the mishap took place in Pallipuram, near Thiruvananthapuram when Bala Bhaskar and his wife Lakshmi were returning from the temple to thank for the birth of their daughter, their only child after 16 years of marriage. His daughter was cremated on Thursday. Balabhaskar who was admitted to the hospital in critical condition suffered from a massive cardiac arrest around 1 am on Saturday and passed away. His wife and the man behind the wheel, his friend, is still undergoing treatment.
