Amber Gill and Greg O'Shea have been crowned the winners of this year's Love Island show and they will proudly share the £50,000 prize money. While many are loving the results some are completely surprised because earlier, the stars looked brighter for Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague as they were managing to become the bookies' choice for several weeks. The results were announced by the popular English radio and television presenter, Caroline Flack who while lauding Amber about her victory, said, "Amber has had a hard time in here, she deserves everything that's coming to her." Amber, on the other hand, said she could "not believe it" when she was chosen as the queen, while Greg described their crowning as king and queen of Love Island "crazy." The two won by public voting, but they do have quite a bunch of controversies to their name just like the other contestants.  Love Island 2019 Winners: Amber Gill and Greg O'Shea Win The Popular Dating Show.

Here are some of the controversies the couple was linked with:

  1. That time when Amber Gill was being slammed on Twitter after claimed that she "doesn't like black guys" in a resurfaced Instagram story. She was quoted on Instagram "I seen you staring at me all night,'" before she writes underneath, "First of all I don't like black guys," to an unidentified male. Love Island Star Chris Taylor Blows Twitter After Confessing ‘Anaconda Sex Position’ As His Favourite; Everything You Want to Know About the Violent Way to Have Intercourse (Watch Video)
  2. Remember when Amber Gill made the phrase "dead ting" popular after episode 27? Not exactly a controversy but, "dead ting"did become the cool phrase to describe someone who is boring and extremely dull. Although it did turn into a controversy after, Amber used the term to describe Joanna Chimonides following Michael Griffiths' decision.
  3. Another controversy revolves around Amber Gill and Michael Griffiths who left viewers in fury after Michael brutally dumped her for Joanna Chimonides during Casa Amor. He asked Amber to "sit down" so he could tell her he "wasn't interested" in her anymore and that language was considered "disrespectful" by netizens.
  4. Who can forget the time when, Amber Gill's BFF Mart Tweedy praised Greg O'Shea and said that he deserved to win Love Island? Mart backed the 24-year-old rugby player from Limerick, who came into the villa just when her drama with Michael Griffiths was getting over. While it wasn't too much of a controversy, his sweet description of Greg won hearts. He was quoted saying to OK! magazine about Greg that, "He’s Irish with muscles, what’s not to like? He’s such a gentleman."
  5. Before the winners' names were declared a piece of news went viral that said that Maura Higgins and Greg O’Shea would earn €500K EACH after Love Island. The two were gaining more airtime than some of the British contestants and were expected to earn their thousands through endorsement deals and collabs.

Amber and Greg were actually named the winners of Love Island 2019, via public voting, they were followed by Tommy and Molly-Mae who came second, Ovie and India in the third position, and Maura Higgins and Curtis Pritchard in the fourth.
