Deepika Padukone fans have been impatient for the actress to make an announcement about her next project. While Deepika was to start her film with Piku co-star Irrfan Khan this year, the latter’s health put Vishal Bhardwaj’s film in the back-burner. If reports are to be believed then Deepika has even returned her movie signing amount back to the makers. In fact, when the actress was quizzed about the biopics trend in Bollywood Deepika had begged to differ. While Bollywood was celebrating Ranbir Kapoor’s role in Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju, Deepika had said, “I feel like there are too many biopics being made. In the last few months, I can’t count the number of biopics that we've been offered. And they're all great; they're very strong and powerful. But when it comes to a film, after a point, how much are you going to tell me about those struggles? Even a common man on the street has had a similar journey, if you ask me.”

Interestingly, Deepika Padukone’s beau Ranveer Singh too is working in a biopic with Kabir Khan titled ’83 where the Bajirao Mastani hero will be seen essaying the role of Kapil Dev. Apparently Deepika too like Ranbir and Ranveer will soon be a part of a biopic, which will be helmed by Meghna Gulzar. If rumours are anything to go by then Deepika will portray the role of an acid attack survivor Lakshmi, who now has become an inspiration for many like her who have been victims of this heartless and mindless act. Lakshmi’s story is both inspirational and has an element of romance too. When she was 15, Lakshmi was attacked by a man who she had turned down; she went on to not just survive this tragic event but is today working together with her husband in rehabilitating acid attack survivors.

It seems that Meghna and Deepika have been in talks about this movie. And as per reports the filming will begin only early next year. Considering that Deepika is getting hitched to Ranveer Singh in November this year the movie fits in perfectly with her schedule. Well, looks like this news will come as a welcome surprise for her fans who have been begging Ranveer Singh to get his ladylove to sign a movie.

There were also reports of how Deepika’s high remuneration demand was the reason the actress was not bagging any projects in India. Well, looks like the actress has found a worthy part to essay. What do you think; will Deepika Padukone sign up for a challenging role like that of Lakshmi’s?
