Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar expressed confidence that Bihar will achieve new dimensions of development under Kumar's leadership.
Along with Nitish, two senior BJP leaders - Tarkishore Prasad and Renue Devi - were expected to take oath as the Deputy Chief Ministers. Prasad was on Sunday chosen by the BJP as its Legislature Party leader, whereas, Renu was appointed as the Deputy Leader in the House.
Bettiah is among the 94 vidhan sabha segments that will be contested in the second round of the elections. In the last assembly polls held in 2015, the seat was wrested from the BJP by Congress leader Madan Mohan Tiwari. With this victory, the Congress ended up claiming a constituency which the BJP was representing consecutively since 2000.
The Harsidhi assembly segment is among the 94 seats that went to polls in the second phase of elections in Bihar. The seat, in 2000 and 2005 elections, was won by the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). In 2010, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) succeeded in wresting the seat, followed by a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) victory in 2015.
Newly-elected BJP legislature party leader Tarkishore Prasad on Sunday said that the party is deliberating on two Deputy Chief Ministers in Bihar. "I have been given big responsibility of the leader of the BJP legislature party and I will carry out the duty to the best of my ability," Prasad told ANI.
The election of Prasad as the legislature party chief was confirmed by Sushil Modi, who served as the Deputy Chief Minister in the outgoing government. Prasad would be replacing Nand Kishore Yadav, who was the incumbent BJP legislature party leader.
Sultanganj was among the 71 constituencies that were marked by the ECI for polls in first round of vidhan sabha elections in the state. The seat is considered to be a citadel of the Nitish Kumar-led party, as it is being represented by the JD(U) for the last 20 years.
From the Mahagathbandhan, the Kahalgaon seat was re-allotted to the Congress. Sitting Congress MLA Sadanand Singh paved the way for the nomination of his son Shubhanand Mukesh. The rival NDA camp had allotted the seat to the BJP, which announced Pawan Kumar Yadav as its candidate.
Amarpur was among the 71 vidhan sabha segments that were contested in first round of the elections. In the last assembly polls held in 2015, the seat was won by JD(U) MLA Janardan Manjhi. The then BJP candidate, Mrinal Shekhar, who emerged as the runner-up is now contesting on the LJP ticket
The seat of Dhoraiya is reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates. The constituency was among the 71 assembly segments that went to polls in the first phase of elections in Bihar. The seat, since 2009 when a bypoll was conducted, was being represented by JD(U)'s Manish Kumar.
In the second round of elections, when Nautan went to polls, 93 other constituencies were also contested. The results were declared on November 10, when the Election Commission of India has scheduled the counting of votes. In the 2015 polls, BJP candidate Narayan Prasad had succeeded in wresting the seat from the JD(U).
From the Mahagathbandhan, the Chanpatia seat was allotted to the Congress, which had last won the seat in 1972. The party had fielded Abhishek Ranjan from the constituency. From the NDA camp, the BJP retained the seat, and issued the ticket to Umakant Singh.
