Jharkhand's prospective chief minister Hemant Soren, while addressing the press for the first time after the election results emerged, expressed gratitude to the voters for granting a "decisive mandate" to the JMM-Congress-RJD alliance. "Today is a historic day. It is also a day for us to take the pledge to wholeheartedly serve the people for the next five years," Soren said. He also thanked RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, her son Rahul Gandhi and daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for jointly projecting him as the chief ministerial candidate.

Chief Minister Raghubar Das has "conceded defeat" as the alliance of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) have extended their lead to 47 constituencies. "I tried to serve my best in last five years and can’t say anything before the results are out. I can call it as my defeat. We are not waiting for any miracle to happen," Das said.

Former Union Minister P Chidambaram jabbed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over their rout in Jharkhand. The Congress veteran pointed out that the saffron party has been "dented" in all the three state polls held after the Lok Sabha elections 2019. The Opposition parties must rally around the Congress to provide a nationwide alternative, he said.

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is emerging as the single-largest party with leads in 29 constituencies. The BJP is trailing second with leads in 23 seats and victory in 1 constituency.

According to latest trends, JMM now emerges as single largest party in the state. The trends show JMM leading in 27 seats while the BJP is at 26. The counting of votes for Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2019 is currently underway.

The JMM-Congress-RJD combine has extended its lead to 45 constituencies, whereas, the BJP is trailing with leads in 25 assembly segments. The AJSU Party is ahead in 4 constituencies, whereas, the JVM(P) is ahead in 3 seats.

After racing ahead in the electoral race against BJP leader Louis Marandi in Dumka, JMM's Hemant Soren is once again trailing from the seat. As per the latest ECI trend, Marandi is leading from the constituency by 724 votes.

Sudesh Mahto of the All Jharkhand Students' Union (AJSU) Party has extended lead in Silli constituency by over 17,000 votes. As per the latest trend, he is ahead of JMM's Seema Devi by a total of 17,125 votes.

As per the numbers released by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the alliance of JMM-Congress-RJD has extended their lead in 40 constituencies. The BJP, emerging as a distant second, is ahead in 31 seats.

Saryu Rai, the BJP rebel who has emerged as the likely "giant killer" against Chief Minister Raghubar Das from Jamshedpur constituency, is hopeful of defeating his arch rival by a margin of around 30,000 votes. At present, he is leading by a margin of 2,700 votes.

BJP rebel and the probable "giant killer" - Saryu Rai - has pinned the blame on party's defeat in the Jharkhand assembly elections 2019 on the leadership of CM Raghubar Das. "Had he been replaced, the results would not had been this worse. People of Jharkhand would had felt that the BJP high command is sensitive to their apprehensions against the CM," he said. Notably, Rai is leading by over 3,000 votes against Das from the Jamshedpur East constituency.

Jabbing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut claimed that their former alliance partner's bid to polarise the voters in Jharkhand along communal lines has failed. "Home Minister raised CAA during his rallies. Attempts were also made to turn this into Hindu-Muslim (battle). But people of Jharkhand have rejected them," Raut said.

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) has drawn a blank in Jharkhand, as per the trends so far. The party has secured only 0.97 percent of the total votes, and has largely been rejected by the state's Muslim electorate. The community, along with most of the other sections of Jharkhand society, have largely rallied behind the coalition of Congress, JMM and RJD -- which is closing on the majority mark.

Hemant Soren of the JMM has resurged in the poll battle in Dumka constituency. After trailing in initial rounds, Soren has now taken a lead of over 2,500 votes against his nearest rival - BJP's Louis Marandi.

In a major jolt to the BJP, Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das is trailing from his own constituency of Jamshedpur East. Das, who had won the constituency by a margin of 70,000 votes in the last elections, is now trailing by 771 votes against his one-time Cabinet colleague and BJP rebel Saryu Rai.

Over 60,000 votes polled in Jharkhand were in favour of NOTA or "none of the above". The numbers add up to nearly 1.5 percent of the total electoral share.

From the Maheshpur constituency of Jharkhand, Stephen Marandi of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is leading by over 4,500 votes against his nearest rival - the BJP's Mistry's Soren.

CM Raghubar Das, who leading by over 1,500 votes in Jamshedpur East till the last hour, is now ahead by only 156 votes. His challenger - BJP rebel Saryu Rai - has rapidly gained in the last two rounds of counting of votes.

Congress' Jharkhand in-charge RPN Singh, while calling the initial results are a celebratory news for the party, said that he would not comment on the situation until the final results are out. "We were confident that Jharkhand will give clear majority to our alliance. Trends are good but I won't make comment until final result.We've clearly said that Hemant Soren will be CM candidate of our alliance," he said.

Congress veteran Ghulam Nabi Azad told reporters that the party is confident of a "full majority for the (Opposition) coalition". The alliance of Congress-JMM-RJD is leading in 40 seats so far, whereas, the BJP is ahead in 29 assembly segments.

Senior BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan told reporters that the outcome of Jharkhand assembly elections 2019 cannot be considered as a "litmus test" on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Chief Minister Raghubar Das is hopeful of continuing as the Chief Minister, even as the JMM-Congress-RJD is inching close to victory. "We will win, we will form the next government," Das said, claiming that the trends would change shortly.

The rout suffered by the BJP in Jharkhand will begin the party's downfall across the nation, said the Rashtriya Janata Dal. After Jharkhand, the next major defeat will come for the BJP in neighbouring Bihar, said the party.

Louis Marandi from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading from the assembly segment by  a margin of over 5,000 votes.

Fireworks are underway at the Congress headquarters in the national capital, as the party, in alliance with the JMM and the RJD, is set to unseat the ruling BJP in Jharkhand.

With the results swinging in favour of the JMM-Congress-RJD alliance, former chief minister and JMM leader Hemant Soren is confident of taking oath as the CM for the second time. His party is currently leading in 26 constituencies, allies Congress and RJD in 11 and 5 respectively. Cumulatively, they have extended their lead in 42 assembly segments. The JMM-Congress-RJD have expanded their lead in 33 constituencies, as per the trends. The coalition requires a win in at least 42 seats to stake claim for government formation. The incumbent ruling BJP is ahead in 20 assembly segments, as per the initial leads.

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is leading from Chaibasa constituency based in Gumla-Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. The party has taken its overall lead to 16 constituencies, its allies - Congress and the RJD leading in 10 and 2 assembly segments, respectively.

The Congress candidates are leading in Jharia and Koleberia constituencies of Jharkhand. The two seats were won by the BJP in 2014. Meanwhile, the AJSU Party has also expanded its lead in four constituencies.

ECI officials have gathered at the designated counting centres, where the electronic voting machines are being safely brought from the strong rooms. The counting will begin at 8:00 AM. The votes cast through postal ballots would be counted first, followed by the mandate recorded in the EVMs.

The counting of votes is scheduled to begin at 8 am, with voters awaiting the outcome of high-stake assembly elections in the state. Ahead of the results, the exit polls gave the edge to the alliance of JMM-RJD-Congress. The ABP News-C Voter survey predicted 38-50 out of the 81 seats for the Opposition alliance.

Counting will begin from 8 am onwards for 81 Assembly seats.
