As a part of Suzuki-Toyota deal, Toyota Glanza will be first Toyota car which will be based on Baleno that is expected to be launched very soon. To recall, both the car manufacturers signed a pact wherein they would cross-badge specific models for not only domestic but also international space. The new Toyota Glanza is expected to be launched in India by June. The new rebadged Baleno will be offered with 1.2-litre BS-6 compliant petrol unit that would be mated to 5-speed manual and CVT option. When launched, the new Toyota Glanza will take on Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai i20 and of course Maruti Baleno. Moreover, the car maker is yet to confirm the production name of the premium hatchback and the sources claim that the model will be named Glanza. Some sources also claim that the car will be launched on June 16, 2019. If the market reports are to be believed, the bookings for the new Glanza are expected to commence from April 26. Under the hood, Toyota Glanza will be powered by a 1.2-litre K12B petrol unit, which will be BS-6 compliant. The petrol motor will be tuned to make 83 bhp of max power against 113 Nm of peak torque. The transmission duties on the new Glanza will be carried out by 5-speed manual unit along with a CVT. Additionally, the Indo-Japanese car maker has also introduced a new 1.2-litre Dualjet unit with SHVS on the updated Baleno.
Apart from Glanza, the Japanese car maker will also be introducing rebadged versions of Ertiga, Ciaz and Vitara Brezza. Moreover, Toyota is also working on a new MPV in collaboration with Maruti Suzuki India.
