Toronto, November 12: A Tesla Model Y car reportedly caught on fire at Lake Shore Boulevard in Toronto, burning four Indian-origin people to death. The four burned people were of Indian origin. According to the reports, the four friends were unable to get out of the Tesla Model Y because the electronic doors failed to open. Only one female in her 20s survived the Tesla EV fire incident in October 2024.

The Tesla Model Y crash reportedly caused the fire and disabled the door until a Canada Post employee, Rick Harper, used a metal pole to smash the car window and rescue the woman. She then told the reporters about the incident and emphasised that she couldn't open the doors of the electric vehicle after the crash caused the fire. Mercedes-Benz EV Fire in South Korea: German Luxury Carmaker Falsely Tells Dealers To Mention Only China’s CATL Battery Cells in Electric Vehicles, Under Investigation.

Four Indian-Origin People Died in Tesla Model Y Fire Incident in Toronto, Canada

According to a report by Mirror, the four people burned during the Tesla Model Y car fire in Canada were 25-year-old Neelraj Gohil (brother), 29-year-old Ketaba Gohil (sister) and two males, Jay Sisodiya and Digvijay Patel. All of these four people lost their lives due to a fire in Tesla's EV.

Rick Harper mentioned that the desperate female he rescued would have tried getting out of the car by opening the door. However, he said he couldn't determine whether the battery or something else caused the doors to not open. The woman, being the only survivor of the crash, scrambled out of the car head-first after the rescuer smashed the window open.

Rick Harper said the smoke was "so thick" and did not know if anyone else was in the EV. The report said that the crash was caused by Tesla Model Y hitting a guiderail at speed on Toronto's Lakeshore Boulevard East but investigators were still trying to determine the cause of the crash. EV Registrations on Rise: Electric Vehicles Demand Increase During Festive Season Across All Segments, Surge 26% YoY To Reach 1.1 Million Units, Says Report.

The report mentioned that the Elon Musk-owned Tesla Model Y had been under investigation in the United States for problems like unintended "sudden acceleration", unexpected "brake activation", and others by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
