Warren, August 11: Stellantis is going for another major round of layoffs this year, which will affect thousands of individuals as it ends production of the Ram 1500 Classic trucks. Stellantis layoffs will affect as many as 2,450 factory workers in Warren, Michigan. The layoffs at Stellantis are expected to begin in October 2024. In April, several reports mentioned that the automobile giant was considering laying off an 'unspecified' number of employees to deal with the changing auto market.

Stellantis is an automobile corporation that owns 14 iconic brands, including Maserati, Chrysler, Fiat, Jeep, Open and more. As per the report by Reuters, Stellantis will lay off around 2,450 workers from the Warren Truck assembly plant located outside Detroit. The plant reportedly aims to shift to a one-day shift pattern, ending the ongoing two-day shift pattern in the general assembly. With the production of Ram 1500 Classic trucks winding down later this year, according to the report, the company will shift its focus to the RAM 1500 Tradesman truck. The Tradesman trucks are being produced at the Sterling Heights Assembly facility.

A Stellantis spokesperson said the company introduced the 2025 Ram 1500 Tradesman truck, bringing "incredible value and content." The spokesperson further added that the upgraded electric architecture would offer new tech for commercial fleets. The technology would offer better tracking and improved safety systems, the spokesperson added. Cisco Layoffs: US-Based Tech Company To Lay Off Estimated More Than 4,000 Employees Amid Its Focus on Cybersecurity and AI.

According to Reuters, about 3,700 working at the plant are represented by the United Auto Workers union. The affected workers will get unemployment benefits of 52 weeks and 52 weeks of transition assistance. Additionally, Stellantis will offer these workers two years of healthcare coverage. The other reports said that the discontinuation of the Ram 1500 'Classic' truck was unexpected, but the company has yet to announce the replacement of the truck. It was reportedly concerning local governments, workers, and the Union Auto Workers union.
