Legendary two-wheeler manufacturer, Royal Enfield, will be launching the much-awaited Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 motorcycles in the international market tomorrow. Carrying a design inspired by 1960’s Interceptor, the new bike was officially unveiled at EICMA 2017 in Milan alongside Continental GT 650. Based on the all-new platform, both the motorcycles made their Indian debut at Rider Mania 2017. The Continental 650 motorcycle being a modern retro machine gets relaxed riding style with wide handlebars and upright ergonomics. On the other hand, the new Continental GT 650 is a cafe racer featuring clip-on handlebars with an aggressive riding stance. As far as the powertrain details are concerned, both the motorcycles come powered by 648cc parallel-twin SOHC, air-cooled engine. The unit is capable of making a maximum power of 47.6 PS @ 7250 rpm and 52Nm @ 5250 rpm. Both the units come mated to a new 6-speed transmission with a slip-assist clutch that transmits power to the rear wheel. The Chennai-based manufacturer has claimed that 80 percent of the maximum torque i.e. 41.6Nm is offered at lower RPMs that is as low as 2500 rpm. The new motorcycles from Royal Enfield carry a double cradle steel tubular frame that is suspended on 41mm front forks up front and twin coil-over rear shock absorbers. The 18-inch spoke wheels with aluminium alloy rims comes fitted on the Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tyres for maximum grip. The brake functionality on the motorcycles is carried out by a 320mm front and 240mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS, which is offered as a standard fitment. As far as the India launch is concerned, the company is expected to launch the new motorcycles during the festive season.  Lastly, the new RE Interceptor 650 motorcycle could be priced around Rs 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Continental GT is likely to see a price tag of Rs 4 lakh (ex-showroom).
