After launching the much awaited 650 Twins in the global market, Royal Enfield will be launching the new Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 bikes today at Rider Mania 2018. The Chennai-based legendary motorcycle manufacturing company will be revealing the prices for the bikes at the annual event. Though the bikes are already on sale in global markets, the domestic market will see the arrival of the much awaited bikes from RE's stable today. As a reminder, the company also showcased the motorcycles at EICMA 2018 along with KX Concept. Moreover, the unofficial bookings for the new Interceptor and Continental GT motorcycles are already underway across RE dealerships. Another interesting fact is that Royal Enfield unveiled both the bikes in India at Rider Mania 2017 itself. And, after exact one year, the bike manufacturer will be revealing the prices for both the bikes at the event. The company will be live streaming the launch event straight from the venue in Goa on its official YouTube channel and Facebook handle. Talking more about the bikes, Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is based on a classic roadster whereas Continental GT 650 is a cafe racer styling. Though both the bikes will be powered by the same powertrain option, they vary in terms of design and aesthetics. The engine is a 648cc, twin-cylinder, liquid cooled unit capable of making 47PS of max power with 52Nm peak torque and comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Further assisting with seamless gearshifts is a slipper clutch that will be offered on both the bikes. Royal Enfield Showcases Continental GT 650 Twin and Interceptor INT 650.
The suspension duties on Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 bikes are carried out by telescopic suspensions at the front and twin spring gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear. For braking, the two bikes are equipped with a 320mm disc brake at the front whereas the rear section gets a 240mm disc brake. The motorcycle also get dual-channel ABS as standard for added safety as well as convenience.
Coming to the price point, the Interceptor 650 motorcycle is likely to be priced around Rs 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) whereas the Continental GT 650 could see a price tag of Rs 2.8 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The exact prices of the bikes will be revealed at the launch event itself. If launched at the above mentioned price, the motorcycle won't have a direct competition in the segment, however, the nearest rival will be the Harley-Davidson Street 750.
