Launched in the Indian market earlier this year in May, the online sale for the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus edition is about to commence in next couple of hours. However, the motorcycle was scheduled to go on sale earlier today, but the official website crashed. As a result, the company rescheduled the timing for the online sale. The special edition motorcycle was launched in India at Rs. 2.40 lakh (on-road Delhi) on May 30, 2018. Interested buyers can book the motorcycle from company’s official website – www.royalenfield.com.
Talking about the motorcycle, the new RE Classic 500 Pegasus will be manufactured in limited numbers of 1000 units only, of which 250 units will be sold in the Indian market. The motorcycle also comes with a serial number and units allocated to the domestic market starts from 0001 to 0250. The company will also be offering Pegasus merchandises that includes helmet, T-shirt, helmet, boots, special canvas panniers, sling bag and much more.
The motorcycle takes its inspiration from RE/WD 125 motorcycle which was popularly known as Flying Flea, manufactured by company's underground facility in Westwood, UK. The motorcycle is available in 2 colors - Service Brown and Olive Drab Green.
Powering the motorcycle is the same engine that does duty on the regular RE Classic 500, which is a 499cc, air-cooled, single cylinder unit. The motor is capable of making 27.2 bhp of maximum power @ 5250 rpm along with peak torque of 41.3Nm @ 4000 rpm. The unit comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Other equipment such as chassis, brakes and tires are also borrowed from the regular Classic 500 motorcycle.
