Mumbai, August 1: The Nissan X-Trail nameplate will be resurrected after a decade-long hiatus as the Japanese carmaker will announce SUV prices today for the Indian market. The Japanese carmaker already accepts pre-bookings for the fourth-gen X-Trail with a token of INR 1 lakh. The Mahindra XUV700 rival will be the second product in Nissan’s portfolio after the Magnite sub-compact SUV for India lineup. To be offered as a single variant, the three-row SUV will be based on the CMF-C platform.

Nissan is expected to launch the X-Trail 7-seater SUV between INR 35 and INR 40 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It will be imported into the Indian market via the CBU route. When launched, the new 2024 Nissan X-Trail will lock horns with the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Tucson and the Jeep Meridian. MG Cloud EV Teased First Teaser Out; India Launch Imminent.

The India-spec Nissan X-Trail will come in a 3-row configuration only. The global-spec SUV is available in both 5-seater and 7-seater versions. Interestingly, the 5-seater won’t arrive in India, at least at the time of the launch. It will come in three colours - Pearl White, Diamond Black, and Champagne Silver. Dimension-wise, the 2024 X-Trail measures 4,680 mm in length, 1,840mm in width, and 1,725mm in height, whereas wheelbase and ground clearance stand at 2,705mm and 210mm, respectively.

Aesthetically, the Nissan X-Trail 2024 looks premium with an upright and squared-out appearance underlined by a signature-style dark chromed V-Motion grille, split-style headlamps, diamond-cut alloys, rounded wheel arches with plastic cladding, wrap-around LED taillights.  On the inside, the new Nissan X-Trail has a well-laid dual-tone interior with black-coloured upholstery. It comes equipped with features like dual-pane sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, ABS with EBD, 360-degree cameras, 7-airbags and more. Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV Clocks 2 Lakh Unit Sales in Just 23 Months Since Launch.

The Nissan X-Trail will be a petrol-only model, which will be powered by a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder, turbo petrol engine paired with a strong-hybrid system. It is tuned to make 163 PS of maximum power at 4, 800 rpm with a peak torque of 300 Nm between 2800-3600 rpm. The engine comes paired with an 8-step continuously variable transmission (CVT). However, the SUV misses out on the 4WD drivetrain option.
