New Suzuki GSX-8R Sportbike Launched in India; Here’s How Much Kawasaki Ninja 650, Aprilia RS660 Rival Costs

The new Suzuki GSX-8R middle-weight sportbike was showcased in India earlier this year at the first-ever Bharat Mobility Expo.

Mumbai, October 4: Suzuki Motorcycle India has officially launched the GSX-8R sportbike in the country, carrying a price of INR 9.25 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s worth noting that the middle-weight sportbike was showcased in India earlier this year at the first-ever Bharat Mobility Expo. Suzuki’s new Supersport comes in three shades - Metallic Matte Sword Silver, Metallic Triton Blue and Metallic Matte Black No.2. As for competition, it goes up against the Kawasaki Ninja 660, Aprilia RS 660 and the Triumph Daytona 660.

The GSX-8R boast Suzuki’s new-age styling with a compact, vertically-stacked LED headlamp flanked by sleek air intakes. Moreover, the rear section of the GSX-8R is short and is highlighted by a stubby tail section. Feature-wise, Suzuki’s new Supersport bike packs a 5-inch colour TFT LCD console, an intelligent ride system with three riding modes, 4-step switchable traction control, ride-by-wire, low-rpm assist, ABS, bi-directional quickshifter and easy start. 2024 KTM 200 Duke With 5.5-inch TFT Display Launched in India.

The Suzuki GSX-8R has 17-inch aluminium wheels with Dunlop RoadSport 2 tyres. For suspension, the Supersport gets Showa SFF-BP forks up front and a link-type monoshock setup at the rear. The braking duties are carried out by dual 310mm at the front and a single 240mm rear disc. The Suzuki GSX-8R uses a 776cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, which also powers its sibling – the Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE - already on sale in the Indian market. The Suzuki GSX-8S naked sport motorcycle is also powered by the same engine, though limited to the global markets. The unit is tuned to make 81.8 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 78 Nm of peak torque at 6,800 rpm. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with a bi-directional quick-shifter.
