The reintroduction of Jawa motorcycles in the Indian market, certainly has increased the rivalry in the sub-400cc classic motorcycle segment. The company launched Jawa and Jawa Forty Two motorcycles in the segment that is dominated by Royal Enfield's Classic series. However, Jawa Brand is expected to create its own space in the market as the buyers looking for an option other than RE. The new Jawa bikes look retro, stylish, nostalgic and powerful. And, certainly won’t create a hole in the pocket. Here's a detailed comparison of the two bikes based on specifications & features. Design and Features: Starting off with the design and features, the new Jawa 300cc motorcycle is built on a completely new frame. Moreover, it is certainly different from the one that is offered on Mahindra Mojo. Jawa's 300 cc bike is equipped with telescopic fork upfront and a gas-charged twin shock absorbers at the back. The deceleration duties on the bike are handled by a single disc brake at the front whereas, the rear gets a drum brake. The 300cc Bike from Jawa Motorcycles also gets a single-channel ABS as standard.

On the other hand, Royal Enfield's popular offering - Classic 300 features single downtube chassis.  The suspension duties are carried out by telescopic suspension with 35mm forks up front along with gas charged twin shock absorbers at the rear. The braking on the RE Classic 350 is done by 280mm disc and 153mm drum at the front and back respectively.

Power Specifications: The new Jawa motorcycles are powered by a 293cc liquid cooled single cylinder engine that was unveiled recently by Mahindra. This engine powers Jawa and Jawa Forty motorcycles. Developed in collaboration with R&D centre in Pune and technical centre in Italy, the unit is capable of making 27hp and 28Nm of power figures. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Jawa's customised - Bobber, which is called as Perak comes powered by a 334cc, single cylinder, DOHC engine making 30bhp and 31Nm of torque. Royal Enfield Classic 350cc motorcycle is powered by a 346cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that can make 19.80 bhp of maximum power @ 5,250 rpm against peak torque of 28 Nm @ 4000 rpm. The unit on the Classic 350 comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Looks: Aesthetically, the new Jawa motorcycle comes with a circular headlight with a curvy fuel tank as well as flat seat. The engine gets dual exhaust mufflers as seen on the older Jawa models. Moreover, the company has paid an extra attention on retaining the old-school design elements such as round indicators, round mirrors and telescopic fork that adds retro appeal of the motorcycle.

On the other hand, the Classic 350 offering from Royal Enfield also looks pretty similar to its predecessor. However, it comes with new body graphics as well as paint scheme. The motorcycle was re-introduced in the year 2008 that was designed on the lines of J2, which pays homage to the British motorcycles in the post WWII era.
