Honda Cars India finally will be launching the second generation Honda Amaze sub-compact sedan in India today that made its global debut at Auto Expo 2018 earlier this year. The next-gen Honda Amaze is based on the new platform and design which will be equipped with host of new features and equipment. Once launched in the country, the new Honda Amaze sedan will take on the third generation Maruti Dzire and other sub-compact sedan in the segment. The sedan will be based on the new 2UA platform which is expected to underpin the upcoming next-generation Brio. The Japanese car maker has already started dispatching the new Amaze to the authorised dealerships across the country and the deliveries will commence soon after the launch. On the exterior front, the all-new Honda Amaze comes with revised appearance and design compared to the outgoing model. The sedan will be feature loaded with new equipment likes 7-inch infotainment system, paddle shifters, cruise control function, ABS and dual front airbags and much more. On the mechanical front, the new 2018 Honda Amaze will be seen in both petrol and diesel engines likewise the current model. Borrowing the same powertrain options, the new Honda Amaze will be powered by 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. The former will be tuned to develop 87 bhp of max power and 100Nm of peak while the former will produce 98.6 Bhp of power with 200 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties on the new Amaze will be carried out by 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. However, a CVT unit will be offered on both petrol and diesel as an option. As the new Amaze will be based on the new platform, it will be comparatively lighter than the outgoing model thus increasing the fuel efficiency of the sedan. While the petrol variants will return mileage of 19.5kmpl and 19 kmpl for manual and CVT variants, the diesel variants will proffer mileage of 27.4 kmpl and 23.8 kmpl for manual and CVT respectively. The all-new Honda Amaze sedan is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs. 9 lakh (ex-showroom). The next-generation Amaze will be pitted against the likes of Tata Tigor, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Volkswagen Ameo, and forthcoming Ford Aspire facelift. Watch the event live here
