The highly anticipated new Mahindra XUV500 facelift will be launched in the Indian market today with an aim to gain its lost reign. The updated Mahindra XUV500 from the house of country's leading SUV maker will sport long list of updates and new features as well as powertrain upgrade. To be offered in 5 trim levels, the new XUV500 is expected to carry slightly higher price tag as compared to the outgoing model. Touted as Plush New XUV500, the SUV will come with new fascia, revamped rear and a slightly more premium cabin. The new XUV500 will get refreshed exterior highlighted by all-new chrome finished radiator grille, projectors headlights with LED DRLs, fog lamps, triangular tail lights, new alloy wheels and more. Inside the cabin, the new XUV500 will sport a piano black finish paint scheme on the dashboard along with soft-touch dashboard-top. Moreover, leather upholstery will also be on offer as seen in the spy shots previously. Feature-wise, the SUV will be loaded with features such as touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Connected Apps and EcoSense, start-stop button, automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, dual-front airbags, ABS with EBS, keyless entry, rear camera, parking sensors, hill descent control and more. Under the hood, the new Mahindra XUV500 will be offered with both petrol as well as diesel engine options. The diesel engine will be a 2.2-liter mHawk turbocharged unit that will be tuned in two set of tunes. The engine on the lower diesel variant will be tuned to make 140hp/330Nm whereas the same engine on the top end variant will generate 155hp / 360Nm of power figures. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual and 6-speed AT gearbox. The petrol engine, on the other hand, will the same 2.2 liter turbocharged engine that will produce 140 Bhp/320 Nm of power output which will be coupled to a 6-speed AT gearbox. Expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 12.5 lakh to 19 lakh (ex-showroom), the new XUV500 will lock horns with Tata Hexa, Renault Captur, Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass. As a reminder, the company seems to have started dispatching the new Mahindra XUV500 to its authorized dealers as it has been spied at dealership stockyard ahead of its official launch.
