Mahindra & Mahindra, a home grown auto manufacturer will be announcing the official brand name for its upcoming MPV in India on July 31. Code-named as U321 MPV, the model has been spotted testing on Indian roads number of times. The car maker will be revealing the brand name of the much anticipated U321 MPV at an event in Mumbai. The new MPV will be christened in the presence of Dr. Pawan Goenka, Managing Director, and Rajan Wadhera, President - Automotive Sector. Moreover, the MPV is slated to launch in the domestic market later this year.

According to the market reports, it is speculated that Mahindra could launch the new MPV around the festive season. Also, the U321 MPV will be manufactured from Mahindra new facility in Nasik. Moreover, the MPV will share its underpinning with XUV500 and KUV100. The MPV has been spied testing on the Indian roads on several occasions. On the feature front, the upcoming Mahindra U321 MPV is also expected to be loaded in terms of features. It is also believed that Mahindra will be equipping the MPV with an Apple CarPlay, making it the first product from Mahindra to get one. However, Mahindra cars are only loaded with Android Auto connectivity system apart from Bluetooth and USB.

Under the hood, the new MPV from Mahindra is expected to be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol mill is likely to be a 1.6-litre unit while the oil burner could also be a 1.6-litre motor. Transmission duties on the new MPV are expected to be carried out by a 6-speed manual as standard along with an automatic gearbox. Moreover, Rick Haas, President and CEO, Mahindra North America described the upcoming MPV as a global product.

Once launched in the country, the new Mahindra U321 MPV will take on the rivals such as Toyota Innova Crysta, Renault Lodgy, Tata Hexa and the forthcoming next-generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in the segment. More details about the Mahindra U321 MPV could be revealed at the event.
