Mahindra & Mahindra, a home-grown utility maker today officially signed two MOUs with the government of Maharashtra (GoM) for providing next phase of Electric Vehicles (EVs). These two MoUs signed by the company is in-line with the vision of becoming completely electric by the year 2030. The next phase of expansion in EVs will make the government electric ready for rapid adoption of EVs for private as well as public mobility. The two MoUs were signed in the presence of the Honourable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Mr. Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group between Chief Secretary & Additional Chief Secretary on behalf of the Government of Maharashtra and Dr. Pawan Goenka, MD, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
The company will be making an investment of around Rs. 500 crore as a part of their expansion plan and efforts for becoming fully electric ready by 2030. The company will be investing further in the Chakan plant for manufacturing EVs, e-motor, battery pack and other components required by EVs.
The second MoU signed today underlines the commitment of the strategic alliance wherein Mahindra & Mahindra will deploy EVs across the key cities of the state. Moreover, both government and the company will be working closing with various fleet partners, logistics companies and others to install 1000 electric cars over the period of next 12 months.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, Mahindra & Mahindra will deploy 25 e2o Plus vehicles on Zoomcar platform in Mumbai under the first development of EVs as a part of the MoU. Moreover, the application of deployment of these EVs will include employee transport between office and home for corporates, taxi hailing, ride sharing and self-drive car rental across the key cities in Maharashtra.
