Mumbai, June 3: The South Korean automaker Kia introduced the Carens MPV in the Indian market in February 2022. It’s the third most-selling model after the Sonet and Seltos. The automaker sold 5,316 units of the Carens in May 2024. The carmaker has announced that the MPV has garnered over 1.5 lakh domestic sales in just 27 months since its official launch. The company also revealed that 50 per cent of the Carens’ customers preferred mid and top trims, which come packed with features like ventilated seats, sunroof, multi-drive modes, Kia Connet and much more. Upcoming Cars and Bikes Launches in June 2024.

Kia offers the three-row Carens in 30 variants across five trim options- Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus. Among these variants, the petrol powertrain of the MPV has emerged as the most preferred choice for customers, accounting for 57 per cent of the demand. Moreover, manual transmission accounted for 62 per cent of demand. The Carens MPV also contributes to Kia’s global operation with around 17,000 units of exports.

The Kia Carens prices fall between Rs. 10.52 lakh and Rs. 19.67 lakh (ex-showroom). Mechanically, the Carens MPV comes with a choice of three different engines and two transmission options. The first is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated 113bhp (144Nm) petrol, the second is a 1.5-litre 113bhp (250Nm) diesel, and the third is a 1.4-litre 138bhp (242Nm) turbo petrol. All three engines come clubbed with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT transmission.
