Hyundai India is all set to launch the highly-awaited 2020 Aura sub-compact sedan in the country. Scheduled to go official on January 21, the compact sedan will be introduced as a replacement to Hyundai Xcent. However, the Xcent will be available in South Korean’s portfolio for fleet purposes. As the launch date approaches, the carmaker has officially commenced the bookings for the sedan across all Hyundai dealerships in India. As a reminder, the sedan was officially revealed in the country last month on December 19. The new compact sedan from Hyundai will be offered in both petrol and diesel avatars. On the exterior front, the main underlines of the new Aura sedan are satin grille, projector headlamps, fog lights, twin boomerang DRLs, Z-shaped LED taillights, diamond cut alloys and much more.
Dimensionally, the Hyundai Aura 2020 sedan measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,680 mm in width and 1,520 mm in height whereas the wheelbase stands at 2,450mm. Mechanically, the upcoming sedan from Hyundai will be seen in three engine options, which comprises of two petrol and one diesel engine. The petrol units are 1.0-Litre Kappa T-GDI and 1.2-litre MPI whereas the diesel unit is 1.2-litre ECOTORQ diesel unit. While the turbocharged petrol unit is tuned to make 100 PS and 172 Nm of power figures, the 1.2-litre MPI engine develops 83 PS of maximum power with peak torque of 114 Nm. The diesel engine produces 75PS and 190Nm of power and torque figures.
All the three engines come mated to 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. However, the 5-speed AMT will be seen on the 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines respectively. When launched, the sedan will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, Volkswagen Ameo and Tata Tigor. The car is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom).
