Hyundai Motor India Ltd, country's second largest car manufacturing company has officially revealed the first design sketch of the much awaited small car, which is codenamed as AH2. Expected to be launched in the domestic market around Diwali, the overall design theme of the hatchback is based on “Rhythmical Tension” that exudes a Refined yet Sporty Image with Modern Appeal. The upcoming Hyundai AH2 hatchback is based on Modern Tallboy Concept, which will be targeted to family car buyers seeking comfort, spacious cabin and styling for the entire family. Moreover, the Korean car maker is looking to revive the ‘Santro’ nameplate for the upcoming hatchback, but with a suffix, like 'Xing' after the moniker of the original car. Hyundai India will be revealing the production name of the upcoming car, codenamed as AH2, on October 4.
Once launched in the country, the new family from Hyundai - codenamed as AH2 will be pitted against the likes of Tata Tiago and Maruti Celerio. Under the hood, the upcoming hatchback is expected to be powered by an updated version of 1.1-litre petrol engine, which was seen on Santro Xing. Moreover, the small car will be the first Hyundai car to come with an AMT unit based on 5-speed gearbox. However, not much details about the small car is available as of now. But, we expect that more details about the upcoming AH2 family car will be revealed in the near future.
