Honda City Becomes The Highest Selling Compact Sedan of 2017 Beating Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna

Honda's offering Honda City has become the bestselling car with a sale of 62,573 units.

Honda’s offering Honda City has been in the Indian market since 1998 and despite having so much competition years later, the car has served and remained a favourite among the consumers. Honda City has now become the highest selling sedan car in India in the year 2017. Honda City had Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna in its competition.

Honda City has become the bestselling car with 62,573 units of it being sold. Maruti Ciaz clocked in 47,114 units of sales. In fact, in December itself 4300 units were sold and on an average 4000 units were delivered every month. In February 2017, the City was upgraded with advanced features and some look changes. The Honda City has two engine options and 11 variants. The new model improved the fuel efficiency as well.

The facelift of the car just before the introduction of Hyundai’s next-generation Verna only benefitted Honda. So the new model was up to date and the strategy worked well for the Japanese carmaker. The Verna was launched only in August 2017 but it definitely could not beat City’s sales. Verna had just about half the sales with 30,000 units being sold by the end of 2017. Had the car been launched earlier the sales could’ve been much more. Taking a look at the full calendar, Honda registered an overall growth of 15% in its sales from 2016.

The Honda City variant added some smarter upgrades with LED headlamps, fog lights and on the interiors was the inclusion of 7-inch touchscreen. The Digipad with access to navigation, USB, MirrorLink and even voice recognition. The music system offers 1.5gb hard drive which is quite a lot. Plus, the car has already been efficient in its performance, so the car rightfully regains the top slot.
