Ford, a popular American car maker is all set to launch the much anticipated new Ford Freestyle compact crossover in the country soon. Touted as Compact Utility Vehicle (CUV), the new Freestyle will be positioned in between Figo hatchback and EcoSport SUV. It is also believed that the car maker will soon initiate the booking phase for the vehicle from April 7 onwards across all Ford dealerships in the country. Based on the Figo hatchback, the new Ford Freestyle is speculated to hit the Indian market by the end of this month. However, the car maker has not revealed any details about the launch yet. To proffer more details, we list down all the details about the car that you should know.
Design: Starting off with the design, the crossover sports blacked honeycomb mesh grille upfront complemented by smoked headlights, new fog lamps, beefy bumpers (front & rear), new bonnet cladding, faux skid plate, 15-inch alloy wheels, revised tail lamps and much more.
Dimensions: The dimensions of the Ford Freestyle are likely to stand at 3954 mm in length, 1737 mm in width and 1570 mm in height along with wheelbase and ground clearance of 2490 mm and 189 mm respectively.
Variants: Talking more about Ford’s Compact Utility Vehicle, the new Freestyle will be seen in four variants - Ambiente, Trend, Titanium, and Titanium+.
Engine Specs: As far as the mechanical front is concerned, the Ford Freestyle will be seen in both petrol and diesel avatars. The petrol unit will be powered by an all-new 1.2-liter 3-cylinder Dragon series unit which will develop maximum power of 95 bhp and 120Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine, on the other hand, will be a tried-and-tested 1.5-liter oil burner which will produce 99 bhp and 215 Nm of power figures. Transmission duties on the new Ford Freestyle CUV are carried out by a new 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.
Mileage: On the mileage front, the upcoming Freestyle is claimed to deliver mileage of 19 kmpl and 24.4 kmpl for petrol and diesel variants respectively.
Features: Ford’s new crossover comes loaded with features like 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, automatic headlamp, push start/stop button and rain-sensing wipers.
Safety: On the safety front, the new Ford Freestyle comes equipped with features like 6-airbags, ABS with Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Active Rollover Prevention and Emergency Assist.
Price and Competition: Once launched in the country, the new Freestyle CUV will compete against the likes of Hyundai i20 Active, Fiat Urban Cross, Toyota Etios Cross and others in the crossover segment which is expected to be priced in the price bracket of Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 8 lakh (ex-showroom).
