In a bid to expand its product portfolio, Ford India is all set to launch the all-new Ford Freestyle CUV in the domestic market. As per the report from Overdrive, the American car maker will launch the new freestyle car in the country by May 18. However, an official confirmation on the same is awaited from the car maker. Moreover, the company has already initiated the bookings for the CUV with upfront payment of Rs. 30,000 as booking amount. The new 2018 Freestyle which will be positioned in between Figo hatch and EcoSport compact SUV. The new Freestyle is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 6 lakh - 8 lakh (ex-showroom). Talking about the exterior design, the all-new 2018 Ford Freestyle looks similar to the Figo hatchback, which is also due for facelift. The all-new mesh grille which gives a distinctive look altogether while the visually distinctive C-shaped fog lamps accentuates the overall appeal of the car. It also gets blacked headlamps, new bumper, faux skid plates, black plastic cladding, roof rails and much more. In terms of dimensions, the Compact Utility Vehicle measures 3954 mm in length, 1737 mm in width and 1570 mm in height. The wheelbase stands at 2490 mm and ground clearance of 189 mm. To be offered in 8 variants, the new Freestyle sports similar interiors as that of updated EcoSport along with features such as 6.5-inch touchscreen, Ford's SYNC 3.0 unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. It will also sport push start/stop button and rain-sensing wipers, automatic climate control, automatic headlamp and much more. As far as the engine specs are concerned, the new Ford Freestyle will be seen in both petrol and diesel powertrains. While, the petrol mill will be a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Dragon series unit that can produce maximum power of 95 bhp and 120Nm of peak torque, oil burner is a 1.5-liter oil burner tuned to develop max power of 99 bhp with power figures of 215 Nm. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. The petrol variant is claimed to return fuel economy of 19 kmpl while the diesel variant will deliver fuel economy of 24.4 kmpl. Once launched in the country, the new Ford Freestyle will take on Toyota Etios Cross, Hyundai Active i20 and Fiat Urban Cross.
