Mahindra & Mahindra, the home-grown auto manufacturer, has officially launched the BS6 version of XUV300 sub-compact SUV in India. The XUV300 petrol is Mahindra's first SUV to get BS6 emission upgrade before the new norms kick-in by April next year. It is important to note that the BS6 version of the XUV300 will be made available on all 1.2-litre turbo petrol units. The carmaker is proactively transitioning its product portfolio to BS6 emission standards in a phased manner ahead of the timeline. Notably, the prices for the BS6 version of XUV300 starts from Rs 8.3 lakh (ex-showroom India) for the W4 BS6 petrol variant. The top-end variant of XUV300 – W8 PM BS6 costs Rs 11.84 lakh (ex-showroom India). Also, the company hasn't revealed what it will be doing with the diesel engine powered variants of Mahindra XUV300.

As far as the mechanicals are concerned, the Mahindra XUV300 comes in both petrol and diesel options. While the petrol engine is a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit, the diesel unit is a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder oil-burner. The former is tuned to make 110 bhp of maximum power @ 5,000 rpm against a peak torque of 200 Nm @ 2,000 rpm - 3,500 rpm. The latter, on the other hand, will churn out a maximum power of 115 bhp @ 3,750 rpm with peak torque of 300 Nm @ 1,500 rpm - 2,500 rpm. The transmission duties are carried out by a six-speed gearbox as standard along with a six-speed auto-shift for diesel.
